And the fledgling edges his way out onto the branch, beyond the nest...

Bantam Boy is adamant that he is going to take a gap year and spend it travelling around Australia!
Chicky babe has "baggsed" his room- it is bigger than hers.
I want to know who will eat curry with me and wondering how I will cope!

Aww... I'm sure you'll be okay. It might be nice just having the two of you there. Good on him for wanting to travel.

As for me, I'll probably go straight to uni. I figure I'll be able to travel once I'm a teacher and I'll probably get sent to the country in my first year anyway.

I want him to go straight to uni and travel afterwards but he knows what he wants!
You can also teach overseas. Chicky Babe is talking about teaching in england for a while. I might go and stay with her and do the same. Then Bantam boy will be back and he can look after the house.

He should do the gap year thing in the uk, working in a school (1 week off every 5 weeks)
Its an absolute hoot, and naturally you would then have to go over and visit!!!

I could never have dopne the gap year thing because I actually won a scholarship for uni but also I was so excited about going ....

Yes, as you said, at least he's thinking of doing his gap year in Australia, not so far away and so much easier to come home.

I'm sure you'll be fine.

He'll grow so much from the experience, and have lots of fun, I'm sure!

it'll be strange that's for sure

ps I got an email notification from twitter the other day that red-hen wanted to follow, but then in twitter the request didn't come through...was that you? If it was, I haven't been ignoring or blocking you - I had a quick look around but couldn't see you, but I'm hopeless I'm finding things in twitter. Anyhoo, if it wasn't you, I apologise for hijacking comments and if it was you, I apologise for appearing to ignore you
